Reclaiming the We is a space committed to reclaiming the promise of “We the People.”
Our institutions, including the media, have failed us. It now rests on our shoulders to reclaim our democracy, reclaim our friends and family, and reclaim our country. We do this at our kitchen table, on our front porch, and during walks in a park. We do this one conversation at a time.
In an era of political extremism and widespread misinformation, it’s easy to feel helpless. But some of the most powerful tools for rebuilding democracy aren’t found in institutions. They’re found in you.
This site hopes to motivate and support those considering the hard, but necessary, conversations with a parent, a neighbor, or a childhood friend caught in the grip of right-wing rhetoric.
These conversations can be frustrating, but there are grounded, research-backed ways to make them more effective. You don’t need to be an expert to make a difference. You just need the right mindset, a few tools, and the willingness to try.
I write as a citizen, drawing from the traditions of journalism and committed to preserving our democracy.
